Deutsche Telekom names new technology chief from April

Deutsche Telekom has named Abdu Mudesir as its new Group Technology Officer, effective 01 April, management board member Claudia Nemat said on LinkedIn. Mudesir will succeed Alex Choi, who takes over the lead on research, #TLabs leadership and special projects.

Already a senior VP, Mudesir was involved in the implementation of the A4 platform for FTTH connections in Stuttgart, among other things. He has helped lead open RAN development at the group as well as DevOps in Germany. He previously worked over five years at Huawei on 5G and mobile development and before that was a wireless consultant at Altran.

Nemat is the management board member responsible for technology and innovation at the group.

Deutsche Telekom confirms plans to accelerate FTTH roll-out, names new German networks head

Deutsche Telekom has confirmed plans to significantly increase the pace of its fibre rollout in Germany. At its 'Network Day' in Bonn, the company said 2.5-3 million new connections will be added to the FTTP network in 2023, compared to around 2 million this past year. The company is on track to reach around 5.2 million homes and businesses passed with fibre at the end of 2022 and over 10 million by end-2024, Telekom Germany CEO Srini Gopalan said at the presentation.

Telekom Deutschland names Mudesir to succeed Goldenits as MD for technology from January

Telekom Deutschland has announced the appointment of Abdurazak Mudesir as Managing Director for Technology from 01 January, replacing Walter Goldenits, who is leaving the company at his own request after six years there. Mudesir has held several roles at Deutsche Telekom since 2018 and is currently in charge of Group Technology under Claudia Nemat, who is board member for technology and innovation. His new role as MD for Technology at Telekom Deutschland will be in addition to his position as group CTO.

Deutsche Telekom to market own T Phone 5G smartphones in Europe

Deutsche Telekom is introducing its own smartphones, the T Phone and T Phone Pro, in nine countries in Europe. The sale of the new Android smartphones, developed in partnership with Google, will start on 05 October in Europe, and Germany will follow in early 2023. They are based on the Revvl phones developed by T-Mobile US and are expected to help make 5G more accessible for consumers.

Deutsche Telekom loses board member responsible for broadband cooperation

Deutsche Telekom said that Dido Blankenburg is leaving the company after four years as a member of the management board, responsible for broadband cooperation and also member of the management board at Telekom Deutschland. Blankenburg is leaving the company at his own request on 30 June to take over a job outside the telecommunications industry.

T-Systems, the subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, has named Gottfried Ludewig as new vice president for T-Systems Health Industry. Ludewig will take over responsibility for the healthcare division at T-Systems, taking care of strategic partnerships that will help the company to expand its business. He will report directly to Adel Al-Saleh, member of the Deutsche Telekom board of management and CEO of T-Systems. Vodafone Germany promotes Dimitrova to strategy chief, names new CFO

Vodafone Germany said it has made changes in the composition of the management board. Anna Dimitrova, previously Managing Director Finance & Strategy, will take over the lead of the Strategy & Transformation division as Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer (CSTO), starting on 01 March. Dimitrova will be responsible for transformation activities at Vodafone to ensure that the company further progresses in line with its strategic priorities.

Deutsche Telekom builds up 5G capacity, increases brand value

Deutsche Telekom said that it built up 5G capacity at 958 mobile sites in Germany over the past six weeks. LTE still works at the sites thanks to DSS (Dynamic Spectrum Sharing). Deutsche Telekom has also added capacity at 745 LTE sites, and built 352 new LTE sites. The company now reaches 99 percent of the households with LTE, with over 90 percent of households able to access its 5G network.

Magenta Telekom said that a member of its management team, Dabine Bothe, will move to Deutsche Telekom as senior VP and Tribe Lead Employee Journey at the beginning of May. Alex Choi has succeeded Deutsche Telekom CTO Bruno Jacobfeuerborn "in all but name", as Jacobfeuerborn focuses on his role as CEO of Telekom's infrastructure arm Deutsche Funkturm. A Telekom spokesperson told Light Reading that Choi is now managing Deutsche Telekom's technology strategy, calling Choi "Bruno's successor -- but without the title CTO".
